Scores of people rolled up their sleeves for a blood drive in Rondebosch last week.
It was organised by the World Mission Society Church of God, and Health MEC Nomafrench Mbombo was at the church to encourage the donors.
“Never take what you are doing for granted, we are battling diseases, injuries, assaults, interpersonal violence and car accidents which are major contributors to our deaths. In most cases a lot of blood is needed”, said Dr Mbombo.
Anele Mbane, of the Church of God, said he was pleased with the response from the community, and it was encouraging to see people from all walks of life coming together for a good cause.
Other Church of God branches around the world held their own blood drives on the same day.
