Wande Siswana, 22, of Claremont, is a semi-finalist in the Miss Intercontinental SA beauty pageant, and she has been supporting various charitable causes ahead of the pageant’s finals next month.
The competition is focused on humanitarian acts of service, she says.
“I intend to promote a shared sense of purpose and belonging for all people and advocate for the safety, visibility, and empowerment of every individual.”
She has distributed 3000 sanitary pads she collected to 700 girls at Thandokhulu High School in Mowbray and donated five bags of clothes to the U-Turn charity shop in Claremont. She collected the clothes through a drive supported by Springfield Convent School, where she is the head of netball.
Ms Siswana is now raising money for a children’s shelter in Roodepoort.
