ABC Motsepe Eisteddfod

■ Wesley Methodist Practising School in Salt River finished third in the choir event of the ABC Motsepe Eisteddfod at Langa High School late last month. The choir took part in two categories – Afrikaans and Western. It was their performance of Hail Holy Queen from the Sister Act movie that won them the third-prize trophy in the Western category in the choir division. Principal André Engel said the Eisteddfod had been an opportunity for the pupils to “showcase their special talents to the world”. He said he was very proud of his pupils who had five to six weeks to prepare. The grades 4 to 7 pupils were prepared for the event by retired choir master Colin Jooste and Grade 7 teacher Zainab Jattiem.
