* Singer and songwriter Nicky Schrire and Berlin-based jazz guitarist James Scholfield will team up to present an intimate evening of jazz standards and folk songs at the Alexander Upstairs Theatre, 76 Strand Street, on Sunday May 15, at 7.30pm. London-born, South African-raised, Schrire, pictured, has performed in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, London, Dublin and South Africa with musicians ranging from Sibongile Khumalo, Abdullah Ibrahim and Arno Carstens, while Scholfield currently tours with Concord recording artist Curtis Stigers.
