Oranjezicht City Farm NPC
Review: Orielle Berry
This may look like a coffee table book about starting a food garden but it is not. It is so much more. The food garden is the idea but that’s just part of the bigger picture.
Sheryl Ozinsky’s vision, together with a group of dynamic volunteers and community members, of rethinking food from gardens to markets and rebuilding a community has been deftly told by Leonie Joubert.
Beautifully written, whether it’s a narrative about Oranjezicht’s colourful past, or chatting with volunteers, or interviews with some of the key players in this vibrant urban farm, it’s a story about a group of people that could be you because this could happen anywhere and it inspires to do just that.
The book is richly illustrated with stunning photographs and the recipes are a bonus.
