Primrose Hub’s under-13 opening batsmen Kieran Bowers and Yaseen Mohamed scored a match-winning partnership of 357 off 156 balls, against Belhar Cricket Club last week.
Bowers, a batting wicket keeper, scored 243 runs while his partner, Mohamed, scored 118 not out.
Bowers was selected for the Western Province Cricket Association’s Regional Performance Centre (RPC) and will be representing the RPC Franchise side in the SA Summer games in December.
This is Bowers’ second double hundred in the past three months, and he currently holds the record for the fastest 50, 100, 150 and 200 off just 62 balls.
“It’s an incredible comeback after breaking his wrist in early September this year. He has scored his second double hundred just after having his cast removed,” said Hub head coach, Shahied Adonis.
“The boys from the Cape Flats have put in huge performances this season with two double hundreds, eight hundreds and 27 half centuries”, said Adonis.
Mateo Herman, 15, from Bonteheuwel has scored three hundreds, Ubaid Abrahams 14,two hundreds, and Yaseen Mohamed, 13, and Adnaan Lagadien, 10, one hundred each.
Bridgetown’s Abdullah Adams, 13, is the Hubs leading all-rounder with a batting average of 73 and a bowling average of 12.
The under-15 RPC team saw a match-winning innings of 130 not out by Ubaid Abrahams, and a four wicket haul by Mateo Herman to secure a victory for the RPC over the weekend against Blue Bells at Bishops.
The Primrose Hub boys are the current holders of four trophies ranging between the under-13 to under-17 age groups, including the Basil Dóliveira, Cape Town Premier League CPL T20, Feedem T20 and the De Tuin Double Innings Cups.

“Cricket SA started the 67 Hubs and RPC’s programme in 2014. Initially to develop and expose township youth to cricket, but two years ago CSA re-focussed the programme towards performance and creating quality cricketers.
“The programme is more than cricket; we are producing future leaders, and are concerned with developing players holistically,” said David Mokopanele, CSA Manager: Mass Participation. We have appointed coaches who are leaders, are reliable, and are good role models for our youth,” he added.
