The southern suburbs took a beating as torrential rains and gale-force winds lashed the city, starting on Tuesday night and continuing throughout yesterday, Wednesday June 7. Pre-empting what was described as “the mother of all storms”, authorities made the call on Tuesday, that schools would be closed on Wednesday.
