The southern suburbs took a beating as torrential rains and gale-force winds lashed the city, starting on Tuesday night and continuing throughout yesterday, Wednesday June 7. Pre-empting what was described as “the mother of all storms”, authorities made the call on Tuesday, that schools would be closed on Wednesday. Before this edition went to print, the Tatler’s ATHINA MAY took a drive around the paper’s distribution area to survey the damage, which included a roof which caved at Cavendish Square.
