■ If you think you have what it takes to run your own business, you won’t want to miss an entrepreneur’s expo in Observatory later this month. It’s a chance to network and get some tips on how to launch your own business or improve the one you’re already running. It’s organised by the South African Institute for Entrepreneurship (SAIE) and will be held at the Observatory Recreational Centre, on Thursday November 16. SAIE’s Cheryl-Anne Kannemeyer said encouraging South Africans to embrace entrepreneurship would help to rid the country of poverty. The Observatory-based institute runs various training programmes to promote the development of business skills. It was born out of the Triple Trust Organisation (TTO) in 1996 to make business training easier and encourage business literacy. Ms Kannemeyer said the institute helped people to spot business opportunities, network and build up their skills. It also helped them understand the repercussions of different business decisions and tell the difference between poor and good investment choices.
