The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind will hold an open day at the Belvedere Scouts Hall, 124 Belvedere Road, Claremont, on Saturday December 4.
The public will have a chance to meet the guide dogs, according to the association’s regional marketing manager, Jackie Quail.
“The guide-dog training team will be demonstrating how these superhero dogs are trained as well answering questions from the public,” she says.
Ms Quail says the people who raise the puppies to be future guide dogs will also be there, and there will be training demonstrations with the puppies.
The public are invited to take picnic baskets and blankets to what Ms Quail says will be a Covid-19-compliant event.
Calendars, soft toys and other merchandise will be on sale to raise funds for the non-profit organisation.
The open day will run from 9am to 1pm. Entry is R20 each. Other than service dogs, no dogs will be admitted.
