Reddam House matric pupil Alexander Zeppel devotes much of his spare time to helping the homeless, as part of the school’s community outreach projects. On Sunday July 24, Alexander and mother Maria served a three-course meal to underprivileged people in Mowbray. The homeless were served soup with garlic rolls as a starter, grilled chicken, roast potatoes, savoury rice and vegetables as the main, and cake as dessert. Alexander was moved by the stories of those who attended, many of whom are well educated but have fallen on hard times for one reason or another. The Zeppel family, of Constantia, frequently open their hearts to those less fortunate, and every year their children take along someone who might not have the opportunity to travel on their overseas trips.
