Infiniti SACS Old Boys Big Band

■ The inaugural performance of the Infiniti SACS Old Boys Big Band to celebrate Women’s Day takes place on Tuesday August 8 at the SACS Hofmeyr Hall, from 7.30pm. The band, directed by saxophonist Dan Shout, pictured, includes SACS Old Boys who are professional musicians, teachers or students studying jazz at a tertiary level. Special guests Denay Willie (vocals and San Souci Old Girl – SACS’s sister school), Ian Smith (trumpet/vocals and previous SACS band conductor) and Andrew Ford (piano – Rondebosch Boys’ Old Boy) will join the band. They will play big band arrangements from international artists such as the Bob Minzter Big Band as well as South African compositions and arrangements by the likes of Dan Shout and Mike Campbell. All proceeds will go to the SACS Old Boys’ union and high school music department. Tickets for adults cost R100 or R175 with cheese platter; and R100 for pupils and students. Book through Webtickets.
