Mary Burton, Rondebosch
I should like to thank you for the particularly interesting and uplifting issue of the Southern Suburbs Tatler of Thursday September 29.
It was very good to read about the Nina Manzi project providing mobile showers for homeless people of this city.
I enjoyed the stories and pictures about the District Six events around Heritage Day.
Most of all, because it is close to where I live, and also close to my heart, I was delighted to see the photographs and story about the second Walk of Remembrance organised by and for residents of Claremont and Newlands, past and present.
I was unable to participate this year, but remember with pleasure taking part a year ago.
We cannot undo the past, but we should focus on making up in any way we can for the cruelty and injustice of the processes of forced removals.
Some of these are simply to remember, to acknowledge, to give respect to those who were affected, to mourn for what could have been, and to look ahead to building a better future.
Thank you for reminding us to do this.
