Zahra Boltman, 16, a Grade 10 pupil at San Souci Girls’ High School, will represent SA at next week’s Union of African Karate Federation’s (UFAK) senior, junior and cadet championships, in Cairo, Egypt. It will be the first time the teenager competes at this level and understandably, she is a little nervous and excited at the same time. Ranked number one in South Africa and dominating her division for a number of years, she says she feels confident that she has what it takes to make an impression. “It takes patience and hard work but if you don’t have fun then what’s the point of doing your sport,” she said.
