Drawing two games back-to-back took Falcons out of the running for the Softball Women’s Super League title.
The two games were against Kenfac Phillies and Glenthorn A’s who are both below Falcons on the log standings.
With one game to go before the league champions are crowned, the Pinelands-based outfit cannot catch runaway leaders, Westridge Yankees and Lavender Hill who will decide the league title on the last day of the season.
Falcons coach Moses Molaba admits their season did not go according to plan and says their batting let them down in this campaign.
“We started the season well but when we came back form the Christmas break we lost three matches back-to-back.
“Also we drew two games back-to-back and that took us out of the league challenge,” said Molaba.
Falcons put their batting woes behind them in their penultimate game of the season against Tantasport at Turfall at the weekend, winning the encounter 3-1.
After finalising their league duties, Falcons will reset and hope to come back next season rejuvenated especially in their batting unit.
The side will not be taking part in the season ending knockout competition to be played this coming Sunday at Turfall.
The softball league will be finishing their league rounds on Saturday March 14 and the focus for the CTSA will then shift to the following day, Sunday for the grand finalé of the season.
With league champions confirmed, the knockout competition will take centre stage on Sunday as each division crowns their KO kings and queens. The KO matches taking place on Sunday will see Westridge Yankees taking on Hamiltons Green in the Men’s Major League. In the Women’s Major League Yankees will play Tableview Tornados. Other matches include Blackheath against Hamiltons Grey and Yankees against Heideveld Yankees in the Men’s first and second division.
Other women’s division matches will see Yankees taking on Lavender Hill in Super League, Silvertree Titans taking on Tableview Tornados in first division, Glenthorn A’s against Khayelitsha Eagles in second division and Yankees against Khayelitsha Superstars in third division.
