Children from Salt River were honoured with certificates at an exhibition of their art last week.
More than 20 children, aged 5 to 15, took part in the one-and-ahalf-month SA Artist Programme run by Baz-Art, a non-profit.
The exhibition was held at Blackpool Sports Club hall on Friday November 13.
Baz-Art founder Alexandre Tilmans said the programme, which started in September, had been a creative outlet for children.
Art teacher Mark Jeneker led the free two-hour classes at the Salt River Nature Park, from Monday to Friday.
“It was amazing to see how much the kids have developed from the beginning of the art classes up until now,” he said.
Shameemah Toffar said her daughter Ammaarah, 4, had enjoyed the classes.
“She was shy in the beginning, but the more she started going to class, she started to communicate with other children easily.”
Nithar Matthews said his daughter Shifa, 6, had made new friends and had been excited about attending the classes.
