Every Sunday, traders from all walks of life, selling everything from street foods to handmade clothing, gather at the historic Trafalgar Park for the Woodstock Market
The market is the brainchild of Lynn Thomson, 33, of Walmer Estate.
She wanted to establish something that was “unpretentious” and catered to everyone.
“The market is family and community-oriented. The market is a platform for people to showcase what they love doing,” said Ms Thomson.
If the goods on sale don’t grab your attention, the entertainment for children or the open-mic sessions could do the trick.
“I’m trying to bring new life to the infamous Trafalgar Park, which is a beautiful park. The response from the community has been very positive and all hope that the market is here to stay. Our doors are open to everyone in the community,” said Ms Thomson.
The market is in hibernation now but will return in August.
Trader Stephan Jacobs, from Milnerton, who sells health products and foods, became a fan after visiting the market one Sunday.
“The Woodstock Market is the first market I chose to start selling from after visiting it one Sunday. The atmosphere at the market is very calm and relaxed. Many of the people that attend it know what they are looking for and are regulars. As a vendor, you are able to build friendship with clients and vendors,” he said.
