The decision by the Angli-can Church of South Africa to vet all persons wishing to enter the ordained or lay ministry in the church is welcome.
Archbishop Thabo Makgoba must be com-mended for taking this decision, which is long overdue amid the claims of sex predators preying on parishioners in its fold.
The issue of sexual abuse has reared its ugly head in all walks of life, and society relies on the church to provide its moral compass.
The church has been plagued by sex scandals and abuse, and this bold step by Archbishop Makgoba is welcome. It should serve as an example to all faith-based organisations.
Thank you Archbishop for this positive step to root out sexual abuse in our churches, and I pray that this decision will be embraced by all.
