Water crisis

Mark RH Kleinschmidt, Ward 60 councillor

We are running out of water. That is the stark reality. As a ward councillor, I continue to receive reports of residents hosing their grass verges and lawns -some as early as 3am to avoid prosecution.

Our dam levels are now 40 percent full, that means 60 percent empty. And no rain is forecast soon. In a month or two our dams may be 80 percent empty. Please act responsibly where your domestic water consumption is concerned. Obviously, those residents with boreholes and wellpoints register these and follow the policy applying to them as per the Level 3 water restrictions. Direct all water complaints to the City of Cape Town’s call centre on 0860 103 089, SMS 31373 or emailcontactUs@capetown.gov.za Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
