Three adults died in an accident last Friday morning, November 23, in Liesbeek Parkway, in Mowbray, under the Settlers Way Bridge.
ER24 spokesperson, Ross Campbell, said the ER24 paramedics arrived just before 7am to find two men trapped in the vehicle and one woman, who had been ejected from the rear seat, lying outside the vehicle.
“Unfortunately, all three were declared dead on the arrival. Metro emergency medical services and fire and traffic services were all on the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not known to ER24,” he said.
Maxine Bezuidenhout, principal inspector of the City of Cape Town’s traffic services, confirmed that the accident happened after 6am.
The three victims were aged between 30 and 35.
Inspector Bezuidenhout said it is believed that the driver of the vehicle lost control and smashed against the pillars under the Settlers Way Bridge. It is also alleged that the driver had been speeding though this is under investigation by the police.
Provincial police was not available to comment.
