Lansdowne police have arrested three men in connection with a house robbery in Rondebosch East.
Lansdowne police spokesman Sergeant Nkululeko Mnyaka said the arrest came after warrant officers Gregory Grey and Herman Meissenheimer followed up on the house robbery, which took place on Saturday January 19, at 7.20am.
Sergeant Mnyaka said one of the suspects had been contracted to paint at the residence, had worked for several days at the home and, had had a key.
“On the Saturday he came with two friends and locked the women in the bathroom, closed her mouth with duct tape and ransacked the house.”
The suspects aged 23, 25 and 36 were arrested on Tuesday January 22, at 9pm.
Through video footage officers were able to obtain the vehicle’s registration number, which led them to the men’s home where police recovered the Samsung plasma TV, Lenovo laptop and a camera that were stolen.
The men face charges of house robbery and are due to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Friday January 25.
Lansdowne station commander Colonel Shawn Van Wyk applauded the good work done by the investigating officers and also advised residents to have the details of the contractors, domestic workers and gardeners working on their premises.
