The St Luke’s Combined Hospice unveiled its Tree of Celebration at its Kenilworth head office on Thursday June 20.
The tree, which carries personalised messages of hope and memories of loved ones on its branches, stands over two metres tall in the foyer of the organisation’s administration building.
It costs R50 a month to place a message on one of the tree’s wooden leaves, according to St Luke’s fund-raising coordinator, Sharon Mc Lachlan.
“There is no limit; it’s for anybody who wants to put a motivational message and tribute up,” she said.
Placing a message on the tree would help to support St Luke’s work, said the organisation’s head of revenue services, Feerouza Kruger.
“Their leaf will stand for something, whether they decide to have it on the tree for one month or for a few months.”
