St Luke’s Combined Hospices opened a new charity shop in Observatory on Thursday August 1.
“This allows us to create more awareness of the quality palliative care that we provide to our terminally ill patients and their families,” said St Luke’s CEO Dr Ronita Mahilall.
The shop sells clothing, furniture, electronics, crockery, books, bric-a-brac and more.
Much of it is donated by the public, but retailers also help to stock the shop with surplus clothing.
“Without their generosity, we would not be able to generate the income that is so desperately needed to provide care to patients and families with life-limiting illnesses,” said Dr Mahilall.
Donations can be dropped off at St Luke’s charity shops or at its head office at 92 Harfield Road, Kenilworth. Email retail2@stlukes.co.za or call 021 762 2148 to arrange collection.
The Observatory charity shop is at 321A Main Road, on the corner of Main and Milton roads. It is open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4pm, and on Saturdays, from 8.30am to 12.30pm. Call the store at 064 966 8679 or visit stlukeshospice.co.za for more information.
