The second annual International Public Art Festival (IPAF) will be held again in Salt River next month.
The nine-day event is from Saturday February 10 to Monday February 19.
An eclectic mix of artists from different continents will paint large murals in the neighbourhood. Each will be allocated a wall space to interpret this year’s theme, “Nature Doesn’t Need Us: We Need Nature.”
The festival is run by non-profit organisation Baz-Art as a fun outlet for social change and a way to draw art lovers out into the streets.
Attendance is free, but tickets for private guided tours and a spray-paint workshop can be bought through Webticket.
This year Baz-Art is partnering with IPAF Mexico and IPAF Canada.
Baz-Art organiser Alexandre Tilmans said the public festivals were a creative way to support artists and unite communities.
“This festival showcases the rich history, creativity, skills, diversity and style of South Africa’s public artists.
As a result, we act as a platform for painting murals and billboards providing commissioned work to South African artists at a local and international level.”
