For the first time in its history, the Songmakers’ Guild has invited young singer-and-pianist-duos under the age of 30 to audition for a concert that will display some of the Cape’s finest upcoming talent.
The Young Artists at the Songmakers’ Guild concert takes place on Sunday May 8, at 3pm, at the Erin Hall in Rondebosch. It will feature performances by the following five duos: Christine Bam and Yohan Chun, Blaine Josephs and Alexandra Beaven, Sakhiwe Mkosana, pictured, and Gerhard Joubert, Marina Pienaar and Ian Bothma, as well as Alida Stoman and Leah Paterson-Jones.
The programme, a selection of art songs from the classical era to the present day chosen by the duos themselves, will include works by Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Strauss, Fauré, Britten, Van Wyk and Sibisi. Tickets cost R190 for adults and R120 for pensioners and are available on Quicket or at the door.
