Skunk the Boston Terrier found after nearly three weeks

Skunk the Boston Terrier at Mowbray Vet after his ordeal

Skunk, the beloved black and white Boston Terrier was finally found nearly three weeks after he got lost.

He was found by Rosebank resident, Antje Carlsson, who rescued the dog from the Liesbeek canal on Tuesday morning around 11.30am. “I was walking my two dogs, Pepper and Pepple along the Rosebank Village Green, when someone told me there is a dog by the culvert of the Liesbeek canal,” she said.

Ms Carlsson said when she saw the scared dog in the culvert, she got down to retrieve him. It was then that people who had helped her, pointed out the poster about the missing dog. She then took Skunk to Mowbray Vet for a family member to collect.

The Tatler has reached out to the family of Skunk but they were not yet ready to talk to the media.

The story about Skunk’s disappearance went viral on social media, with Facebook group Cape Town Dog Lovers helping to raise awareness about the search for him. According to the group, Skunk went missing while walking with his owners in Constantia Nek on Friday June 17. The family appealed for support on social media and via printed flyers and posters. The family also offered a reward of R10 000 for Skunk’s safe return.
