Seniors celebrated in Salt River

Rachmat Williams, 84, left, and Rugayah Johaadien, 66, were given a prize as the best-dressed seniors.

Around 70 Salt River senior citizens were treated to a seniors’ lunch at the Blackpool Sports Hall. It was organised by Salt River resident Shariefa Job, who received support and donations from friends and the community.

From left, Wasiela Soeker, 64, Alwie Cobern, 67,and Leila Adams, 70, won prizes for competing in the potato-and-spoon race.
Mariam Julius, 93, left and Moira Smith, 90, were the eldest seniors at the lunch.
Belly dancer Zulpha Shaigh, left, and Zumba instructor Shiyaam Rossie, entertained the seniors.
