The Sunny Side Montesorri Pre-school in Rosebank did a donation drive for the Learning in Reach non-profit last week.
The school’s principal, Caitlin Munnik, says they encouraged families to donate non-perishable foods, toys, books puzzles, stationery, games, clothing and household items for the Plumstead-based non-profit, which helps early childhood development (ECD) centres in Lavender Hill.
Learning in Reach performed a play, There’s a Lion in My Tummy, for the school’s children at its premises last Friday. The play taught the children about how to handle big emotions.
Ms Munnik said the children loved learning about helping others and thoroughly enjoyed the show.
Learning in Reach fund-raiser Gillian du Toit said Sunny Side’s support would help with the assistance they provided to 20 ECDs in Lavender Hill.
Ms Du Toit said they would be staging There’s a Lion in My Tummy at Sunny Side Montessori’s Claremont branch this week.
