The City will be resurfacing a 1km section of Alexandra Road, between Raapenberg Road and Dellville Square, in Pinelands, over the next two months, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
The work would start today, Friday November 18, and be done by January 22 next year, if all went to plan, said City spokesman Luthando Tyhalibongo.
“The work will take place throughout the week from Monday to Friday from 8am till 3.30pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 7am till 6pm.”
The road is a key route linking the N2 and industrial area of Ndebeni and carries a large volume of traffic.
“Although congestion is not expected, the City recommends that road users consider alternative routes where possible,” Mr Tyhalibongo said.
Traffic moving in both directions will be affected, but flag personnel will direct traffic by means of temporary detours around the work area, which will be demarcated.
Parked vehicles that obstructed the work would be towed, said Mr Tyhalibongo
“It is also important to note that it is difficult to remove asphalt from the bodies of vehicles.”
