Residents from Kenilworth and Lynfrae received civic awards from the City of Cape Town for their community service.
Ward 58 councillor Sharon Cottle presented the awards to Penny Owens and Rory Moore at the Alphen Centre in Constantia, on Wednesday October 16.
Mr Moore was recognised for his work as a dedicated member of the Kenilworth Residents’ Association (KRA) committee with responsibility for safety and security in the
area.
“He has remained an active member of the committee, in charge of the safety and security portfolio for the past 12 years and has given a huge amount of time and effort over the years towards keeping the residents of this area safe,” said Ms Cottle.
Penny Owens, from Lynfrae, was praised for her contribution to the Har-lyn Neighbourhood Watch for the past eight years.
Ms Owens first worked as a patroller before becoming a committee member responsible for fundraising for the watch.
“She is exceptionally organised and has all relevant community information at her fingertips and is never too busy to answer her phone to give assistance,” said Ms Cottle.
