Two Ward 58 residents were acknowledged at the annual Civic Awards held at the Alphen Centre recently.
Bruce Burmeister and Dawn Gottgens were recognised for their outstanding achievements and service that made a significant impact on the community and its residents.
Mr Burmeister is one of the founding members of the Rondebosch Community Improvement District (RCID), which was started in 2000 and has been actively involved since.He is a ward committee member and has years of experience in civic matters. He is also actively involved in the Harlyn Neighbourhood Watch and in his spare time he lectures at UCT.
Ms Gottgens is the co-founder of the Harmony School Foundation where she was one of the residents who responded to the sanitary towel project request in the ward and agreed that Batavia High School would be added to the list of recipients for a year.
