The roads were fairly busy when Caroline Maile returned to her home in Rondebosch on Monday February 13, at 6.15pm, and the last thing she expected was to be accosted by three armed men.
Ms Maile, who has been staying in the area for a year, parked her car across the road from her Roslyn Road flat and saw a silver Datsun car speeding by. The car stopped beside her and three men got out and grabbed her handbag .
“They held my shoulder forcefully and said that if I don’t give my bag to them, they will shoot me. They had guns and I didn’t want to take a chance. “At the time, I was thinking, is this really happening. It all happened so fast, I can’t remember what they look like. They took my purse which had my driver’s licence, bank card, some money, a Bluetooth speaker and they took my car keys. I towed my car away so that they couldn’t take it,” said Ms Maile.
Rondebosch SAPS, spokesperson, Warrant Officer Lyndon Sisam, confirmed the incident and asked that anyone with information contact Detective Warrant Officer Van Heerden on 082 469 2492.
