The crime prevention unit followed up on information received pertaining to illegal activities believed to have been taking place at a house in Wesley Street on Monday January 9 around 5pm.

Spokesperson for Woodstock police, Sergeant Hilton Malila, said upon entering the house, police noticed various dagga plants and equipment to manufacture dagga on the premises.

During the search, police confiscated 15 dagga plants, 37 glass jars filled with dagga and two black plastic refuse bags filled with dagga.

“We also seized various equipment to cultivate and manufacture dagga, that was hidden in one of the upstairs rooms of the house,” Sergeant Malila said.

A 50-year-old man, who is the owner of the house, was arrested for cultivating and possession of dagga, and appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Wednesday January 11). “Woodstock police wants to thank the community for information received and encourage other communities to join hands with the police in the fight against drugs,” he added.
