Woodstock police kept the pressure on drug dealers when they swooped on a Wright Street address on Tuesday January 30 and found a consignment of drugs stashed in an abandoned shack on the property.
Police seized 26 parcels of dagga and more than 200 mandrax tablets.
“This definitely puts a dent in the drug trade of Woodstock. Keep on squeezing their space,” said the Woodstock station commander Colonel Duma Ntsezo.
Woodstock police also arrested a 53-year-old woman for dealing and possession of drugs after they swooped on two addresses in Albert Road.
Woodstock police spokesman Sergeant Hilton Malila said they confiscated 236 units of heroin (unga) and 20 big plastic bags of tik. The drugs had a combined street value of about R35 000.
Joint police and community operations in Woodstock at the weekend led to 22 arrests for drug-related crimes in Pine, Strand, Wright and Bromwell streets as well as the Mascani informal settlement.
Police confiscated eight plastic bags of tik, five dagga parcels, 47 mandrax tablets and four dagga trees.
“We also seized four computer flat screens belonging to the City of Cape Town during a raid at Mascani. The members also confiscated dangerous weapons used to commit robberies and equipment used to break into cars. We also seized a substantial amount of cash during the raids at drug houses,” Sergeant Malila said.
