The Knitting Circle of Pinelands Place is helping to keep the most vulnerable warm during winter.
Every Thursday, women from the old-age home meet to knit scarves, blankets, beanies, jerseys and other winter gear.
One of them, Ingrid Gensicke, says they have previously donated their winter warmers to charity organisations such as the Salvation Army as well to the Erica Place old-age home in Silvertown,
“It is good to know that we can try to help get someone warm, and it’s an opportunity for us to give back to the community.”
Ms Gensicke says it’s also a chance for the women to socialise.
They get wool donations from a factory in East London, and they also buy wool with the money they raise from raffles at the home.
If anyone would like to donate wool to the Knitting Circle of Pinelands Place, call Ms Gensicke at 083 344 9696.
