Maintenance on roads in Pinelands later this month and into February is set to cause delays and stop some homeowners pulling into or out of their driveways for several hours.
The R4.1 million project is planned from Monday January 29 to Wednesday February 28, from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday, weather permitting.
Roads will be resurfaced and kerbs and channels reinstated over three phases. The roads affected are Avonduur Road, Forest Drive Service Road and St Stephens Road as well as East Way and Francis Road. “We are expecting congestion in the area so we are encouraging the public to allow for some extra travel time or to use alternative routes, where possible,” said Suzette Little, mayoral committee member for area north.
Leaflets would notify residents of delays at least 24 hours before work started in their roads, she said. Residents could be without access to their driveways for up to four hours. Traffic moving in both directions would be affected, but at least one lane per direction would remain open to traffic and there would be flagmen and a stop/go.
Vehicles could be parked in the demarcated areas provided but had to be moved before 8.30am.
