Mowbray artist Elizabeth Wood is teaming up with her art teacher, Karin Morphew, from Lakeside, for Resilient, an exhibition of their work.
The title of the exhibition, says Ms Wood, alludes to the way fynbos is itself resilient, being able to recover after fire and withstand the elements.
“It also makes reference to the fact that many people are able to withstand and rebound from the trials and tribulations of life.”
Both Ms Wood and Ms Morphew enjoy working with mixed media although they each have their own style.
Ms Wood has used eco printing for her work in the exhibition. The technique uses steaming or boiling to transfer the natural dye colours from plants onto paper or fabric.
Ms Morphew has used mixed media with collage for her work.
There is free entry to the exhibition, at the Koena Art Institute, at 42 Trill Road, Observatory. It opens on Tuesday February 22 at 6.30pm and will run daily from Wednesday February 23 to Sunday February 27, from 10am to 5pm. Both artists will be in conversation with visitors on Thursday February 24 and Saturday February 26, from 11am.
