The City unveiled an upgraded sports facility at Golders Green Park in Woodstock on Monday December 11.
Ward councillor Ian McMahon said the project was meant to breathe new life into the existing netball court by merging it with a basketball court.
R500 000 for the project came from the recreation and parks department’s budget while Mr McMahon said R84 000 was spent from last year’s ward budget on an outdoor gym, and R150 000 was spent from this year’s ward budget on tiered spectator seating, new play equipment and some landscaping.
Mayoral committee member for community services and health Patricia van der Ross said the new facility “creates inclusive and dynamic spaces for the community”.
Mr McMahon said the finalisation of the project made him “extremely happy”.
