The Cape Town Society of Model and Experimental Engineers (CTSMEE) will be holding its annual exhibition on Saturday May 19 and Sunday May 20 at its base on the corner of Erin, Duke and Campground roads in Croquet Lane behind the Rondebosch Croquet Club, from 9am to 4pm.
Visitors will have an opportunity to interact with the club members and find out more about the hobby. The club has a fully equipped workshop with lathes, shapers and milling machines for members to use. Qualified machinists and fitter and turners are willing to teach new members the trade.
There will be rides for the children on the 5-inch gauge live steam engine at R5, from 9am to noon and then from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
There will also be a display of live steam locomotives and model boats which are owned by club members.
Model cars, books and magazines as well as refreshments will be on sale.
Shawn le Roux will be displaying SAR memorabilia and model railway equipment.
Entry is R20 for adults and R10 for pupils. Children under 5 enter free.
Proceeds will go towards the maintenance and the upkeep of the building and also the club’s projects.
