Ayanda Fani, 45, got a big fright when her white minibus caught fire in Victoria Road, Woodstock, at about 12.45pm, on Monday.
Ms Fani, from Phoenix, had just stopped at a bank in Victoria Road after dropping her two children off at the Alpha School.
“When I got into the car alone to start it, another vehicle pulled up next to me to say that there is a fire at the back of my vehicle,” she said.
Ms Fani said she did not know how the fire could have started. She was uninjured, but the fire gutted the uninsured minibus.
“I am very sad because I don’t have a vehicle anymore,” she said.
Ms Fani is unemployed and her children attend a special-needs school. She is reluctant to let them use public transport to get to school.
Firefighters from Salt River extinguished the fire at about 1.30pm, according to City Fire and Rescue Service spokesman, Jermaine Carelse.
“The cause of the fire is unknown,” he said.
