■ Volunteers of the World Mission Society Church of God in Rondebosch came out to support the Cape Peninsula Marathon, in which more than 6 000 runners took part on Sunday February 18. The volunteer group had two water stations, the first one in Claremont and the other in Simon’s Town. More than 120 volunteers including employees, their friends and family spent their day handing out water to the runners at the start of the race, which began at 5.30am. The volunteers prepared posters and various dances and cheers, creating a festive atmosphere at the marathon and even locals joined the singing and dancing.
