Woodstock police arrested a 27-year-old man in Zonnebloem for being in possession of 55 plastic bags of dagga.
Warrant Officer Hilton Malila of Woodstock police, said the arrest was made at around 2pm on Friday July 26 after an officer patrolling the area noticed a suspicious-looking man carrying a bag in Pine Road, Woodstock.
“The police approached the man and he dropped the bag and ran in the direction of Nelson Mandela Boulevard,” said Warrant Officer Malila.
Woodstock police Sector 2 manager, Constable Cameron Fortuin, gave chase and caught the man after he crossed the freeway into Zonnebloem. “Constable Fortuin opened the bag and found 55 small plastic bags of dagga and then arrested the man,” said Warrant Officer Malila.
The suspect is from Mitchell’s Plain and had appeared in the Cape Town’s Magistrate’s Court on Monday July 29 on a charge of dealing and possession of drugs.
