Some cemeteries managed by the City of Cape Town will offer limited burial services over the festive season and on specific public holidays.
Residents will still be able to visit the graves of their loved ones on these days, but, for burials, the cemeteries will be:
Open until 1pm on Reconciliation Day, Friday December 16.
Closed on Christmas Day, Sunday December 25.
Open until 1pm on Day of Goodwill, Monday December 26.
Open until 1pm on the public holiday on Tuesday December 27.
Open on Saturday December 31.
Closed on New Year’s Day, Sunday January 1.
Open until 1pm on the public holiday on Monday January 2.
Anda Ntsodo, the City’s mayoral committee member for community services, said staff would be on standby to assist with Jewish and Muslim burials as per their religious requirements.
