Imaan Jattiem, formerly of Woodstock, has her heart set on wearing the Mrs South Africa sash and crown after being selected as a top-100 finalist in the pageant.
Ms Jattiem was born Alana Kemp on March 5, 1980, and lived in Woodstock for 34 years. She attended Mountain Road Primary School and matriculated from Gardens Commercial High School in 1997.
She works in the communication department at Shoprite and Checkers head office in Brackenfell and has a blog, “Be Woman”, on lifestyle, wellness, fitness and beauty and fashion.
“I am passionate about helping and inspiring women to become the best versions of themselves, to lead healthier lifestyles, and also to remind women about the importance of doing regular screening tests and taking care of their bodies,” she says.
She married Ismail Jattiem in 2004 and changed her name from Alana to Imaan, after converting to Islam. The couple, who have three daughters aged 12, 7 and 2, moved to Goodwood in 2013.
After the birth of her youngest daughter in 2015, her weight went up to 90kg which resulted in her making an important lifestyle change in 2016.
She exercised regularly and made healthy eating choices and lost 25kg.
She was selected for the top-100 at a national casting at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg in March.
The 25 finalists will be announced at Emperors Palace on June 29. And Mrs South Africa will be crowned there on November 9.
Ms Jattiem will host a high tea in Klein Nederburg Estate, Paarl, in mid-June which will focus on women’s health and wellness and building confidence.
