A golf day has raised R60 000 to train guide dogs. The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind held the fund-raiser at the Royal Cape Golf Club in Ottery last Friday. The non-profit, which has its provincial branch in Claremont, raises money for guide-dog training.  Megan Reid, a learner guide-dog mobility instructor for the organisation, says it costs more than R100 000 to train one guide dog. “By helping us raise money, we are able to train an incredibly special dog that will provide a visually impaired person with mobility, independence and companionship,” she says.
