There were stalls of all sorts as well as a jumping castle and face-painting for the kids at the Greater Lynfrae residents’ community gathering last week.
People also brought their pets along to enjoy the forest-like feel of the Keurboom Park.
Organiser Margie le Roux said there were fewer people at this year’s event than at last year’s, but there was still a “lovely vibe”.
“People are enjoying being together in the park and using the facilities of the park and getting to meet each other.”
Shelly Parr, who works mostly from home making wooden creations, was selling emoji models, small houses, trucks, boxes and chopping boards.
Food vendors Kula Nje and Zanele Gqirana were dishing up traditional South African fare as well as homemade ginger beer.
Ashley Cafe, from Mowbray, kept the gourmet coffee flowing. Barista and manager Fils Lumbala said: “We decided to bring them the best coffee that they can have.”
PlumPets was there, trying to find homes for cats and dogs. Tracey Linde, who does fostering and fundraising for it, said: “We are trying to get exposure for our doggies and kitties to try and find them homes.”
The neighbourhood’s kids also tapped into the entrepreneurial spirit of the day.
Thomas Hoffmann, 9, and his kid brother, Daniel, 7, and their friends, Robert Williams, 9, and Ben Grey, 8, had folks paying R2 to take soccer penalty shots. And Jamie Walawege, 9, sold notebooks covered in exotic leftover dress materials from her mom’s shop.
There was even an old fashioned lemonade stall run by the Rendall sisters – Alex and Emma, with help from Isabella Snaddon.
Ms Le Roux said another gathering was planned for October.
