Police arrested four people during an undercover operation at a known drug house in Woodstock and a club in Observatory.
Officers raided the Argyle Street home in Woodstock on Friday September 28, after weeks of observing the property, following tip-offs.
Woodstock police spokesman Sergeant Hilton Malila said officers confiscated 15 plastic bags of tik, six mandrax tablets, three heroin units and 11 bullets for a 9mm pistol.
They also arrested a women found with a mandrax tablet during the raid.
“Officers also seized a substantial amount of cash. A preliminary investigation on the premises revealed that one of the men was a wanted suspect in Lentegeur,” he said.
Later that night, officers staked out a club in Main Road, Observatory, where they noticed drugs being sold outside.
Sergeant Malila said officers arrested a 30-year-old man inside the club who had 60 units of heroin on him.
“Members seized an undisclosed amount of cash found in his possession and the club was subsequently closed down,” he said.
Acting station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Tian Lotz said the busts sent a strong message to drug peddlers in the precinct.
“We will surprise you when you lease expect it. Liquor outlets should be warned that we will close you down, if you allow any illegal activities to take place on your premises.”
