* Ashley and Marie Ware-Lane jetted off yesterday, Wednesday April 13, to China to take part in the 33rd Weifang Kite Festival in Shandong Province, China, which kicks off on Saturday April 16. Weifang is considered the world capital of kiting and it is there that the first kite is said to have been made and flown. The kiting couple are advisers to the Cape Town International Kite Festival. Pictured are Alison Leo, of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS), Marie and Ashley, and Chanelle Albertyn of Cape Mental Health, at the River Club field in Observatory after they had their send-off at the Cape Mental Health offices close by. The couple are holding their 7m Nemo kite which they took with them to the festival. DCAS, in partnership with Cape Mental Health, are responsible for sending off the two kiters, who will also be taking part in the Beijing Kite Festival.
