Robyn Fabian, Grade 12 pupil, Westerford High School
Westerford is among the few schools that consistently achieve these results.
At the 2016 NSC Awards Ceremony at Leeuwenhof Westerford retained its place in the Top School Category for “Excellence in Academic Performance in the Western Cape” amongst 32 tops schools. Although schools were not ranked this year at the ceremony, Westerford was placed within the “Top 3 State Schools” category along with Bloemhof and Rustenburg. Awards are given to schools that have met a list of certain criteria.
The criteria include consistency of numbers over three years, an overall pass rate of over 95 percent and the percentage of candidates passing with a Bachelor’s pass (over 80 percent) and a pass in maths (over 60 percent).
Westerford’s averages are kept exceptionally high with all subjects achieving an over 70 percent average.
However, some subjects achieved way above that, accounting (82.3 percent), Visual Art (86.5 percent) and Xhosa (86.3 percent) to name but a few.
Congratulations to Cayley Tarr, a Matriculant from Westerford who passed with an aggregate of 95.5 percent and was placed in the provincial top 20 merit list.
