Two people were arrested for cable theft in Woodstock following a tip-off on Friday March 20.
In the early hours of the morning, the infrastructure team received a complaint about cable theft in progress at the railway relay room in Woodstock.
The officers followed up and found a man and woman inside the relay room. They had gained access to the room via a drain.
The suspects were caught with signal cable, 11 relay boxes used for signal and braking of the trains. They were also in possession of two hacksaws, a hacksaw blade, one wood saw and one bench saw.
The duo was taken to the Woodstock police station where they were charged with possession of stolen property and damage to essential infrastructure.
