Distinguished Toastmaster Award

Talking Heads Toastmasters club member Deidre Pluke was presented with the Distinguished Toastmaster Award, the highest educational award in the Toastmasters International programme.

Ms Pluke is the first member at the Woodstock club to receive the award.

The Lakeside resident is a charter member of the club which was formed 20 years ago.

She decided to join Toastmasters to overcome her shyness, gain confidence and learn to be a leader.

She says it took her most of the 20 years to attain this award, and it was well worth it.

Ms Pluke has served in each club officer position over the years, from president to secretary. She is once again the vice president of education for 2016 and works on motivating and encouraging others to reach their educational and leadership goals.

Talking Heads Toastmasters meets on the first Thursday of every month at Entrepreneur and Management Solutions office, 31 Brickfield Road, Woodstock, 6pm. Email Deidre Pluke at deidrepluke@gmail.com for more information.
